Smart Heating and Climate Systems
Smart heating controls allow you to control heating and cooling throughout your whole home from a smartphone or other smart devices in a way that conventional controls cannot achieve.
Heating and air conditioning are the two biggest users of energy in the home but generally are the worst controlled. Running rooms too hot or too cold costs money, the secret is to set each room at the correct temperature for each time of the day. Not only does this make the home greener it makes it much more pleasant to live in. Smart heating systems also help save energy by reducing carbon footprint and preparing the home for a more sustainable future.
Using a smart home heating system enables us to program the temperature of each room by time of day. For example, bedrooms can be heated morning and evening, dropping back during the day when they are not used; and living spaces can be heated during the day dropping back at night when everybody is in bed. When the house is empty the entire temperature in the home can be reduced so it remains warm enough to be safe and dry yet doesn’t waste energy heating an empty house.
By using a control system we can bring all the heating controls together on one application, either on a phone or a touch screen in the home. You can manage the heating controls using a smart device, making it convenient and efficient.
Most modern homes use underfloor heating on the ground floor. Each room will have heat-emitting pipe buried in the floor, covering the entire room. These pipes are connected to a manifold which has electric valves controlling the water flow for each room. Controlling these valves is the clever part, often they are just connected to a simple room thermostat with a time clock which controls the whole system.
Our solution is to install a smart programmable thermostat in each room which senses the temperature in the room and controls the temperature according to the time of day.
Where having the thermostat on the wall doesn’t look good we can hide the thermostat away in the plant area and use a remote sensor to measure the temperature of the room.
Instead of manually programming each thermostat, one per room, our solution uses a smart application which enables you to set time and temperature easily and quickly using a touch screen or mobile phone.
Whilst we prefer wired stats wireless ones are also used in positions where hard wired is not possible.
Often electric underfloor heating is used in bathrooms and smaller areas, this is controlled in exactly the same manner using the application, as is hot water and electric tower rails.

Smart Radiator Valves
For systems with radiators, we can control a whole heating zone using a smart thermostat and Heatmiser controls.
The best alternative, however, is to fit wireless valve heads on the thermostatic radiator valves. These clever devices directly replace the existing valve head on most valves without changing the body and control the radiator directly. Being wireless, these require no cables and are controlled from an application on the phone, just like the Heatmiser underfloor system.
Smart thermostats work by connecting to a home's boiler using existing wire connections, allowing users to remotely adjust the thermostat temperature via an app.
As before, the room temperature is controlled exactly as needed, and the boiler only fires when the valves are open, saving gas or oil as required.
